An east coast classic. Washer toss is a game played with 2 boxes built of wood and plumbing pipes. Washers are tossed from one side to the other and whoever gets washers in the opposing box gets points.
Easy? No! This is a game of skill, patience, and heckling? Yes heckling! If you can’t talk smack you better hope your opponent can’t either otherwise you will be “washed up”!
So! How do we play?
What you need:
Washer Toss Game
If you don’t have the game you can go to this link to build one. Use 2×6 pieces of wood instead of 2×4 unless you only have 2×4 available.
Rules:
1. Boxes are placed 20 feet apart.
2. Eight washers are used.
3. Two players or two teams of two players on each team for a game. Each player takes turns tossing a single washer until all eight are tossed.
Scoring:
3 points in the middle cup or “sewer”
2 points in the box
1 point outside of the box and touching the outside.
Two opponents’ washers in the same scoring area cancel each other out.
The object of the game is to accumulate 20 points first.
There are several variations on how to play, but generally the owner of the box decides.
Enjoy! Questions or comments are welcome.
