Wells Gray Park

I weekend adventure to interior BC landed us in a beautiful waterfall park. Wells Gray Provincial Park is a great place for camping, fishing, hiking, or sightseeing. With spectacular views of waterfalls it is a must see.

We visited Wells Gray as a day trip from Kamloops, BC with our family.

Spahats Falls was our first stop. The cliffs at this location were quite breathtaking. They appear out of nowhere and with no warning.

The waterfall runs out of the rock cliff like something out of Middle Earth (scary Lord of the Rings analogy).

The next waterfall we went to was Dawson Falls.

We found a perfect spot for some fun stump photos.

There was a brief encounter with a furry friend that did not appreciate our dog.

The next waterfall was the superstar of the tour. Helmcken Falls is Canada’s fourth highest waterfall AND the easiest to take goofy pictures with.

Our final stop was not a waterfall but a fast moving part of the Clearwater River called Bailey’s Chute. Because the salmon are currently migrating up the rivers for spawning, we were able to see a few trying to pass through the chute. There were no successful attempts when we were watching but it was great to watch them try!

We all had a great day in the sun at Wells Gray Park. I can’t wait to go back.
