Mrs. Brown’s Boys

For those of you who know what this is you can stop reading and turn to BBC for the latest episode. For those of you who have yet to discover Mrs. Brown’s Boys I suggest you keep reading.
A few weeks back we went to visit my parents and my dad was raving about this show he found on the BBC TV station. My dad is traditionally known for liking two types of shows; extreme slapstick and overly dramatic action. His usual choices include anything Monty Python, Mel Brooks, Steven Seagal, or Jean Claude Van Damme. I was skeptical to say the least. BUT! For the first time in a long time my dad was on to something that appealed to more than just him.
Mrs. Brown’s Boys is on the slapstick side of the viewing spectrum, but it brings back the concept of “live studio audience” which has not been effectively used since the days of Happy Days and Cheers. One more element it adds is the rough humour and language of non-censored Irish television.
The storyline of the show is a traditional Irish mother with quick wit and quicker tongue living in modern Ireland with grown up kids. Did I mention the actor that plays the mother is a man? It’s like Mrs. Doubtfire goes to Dublin.
The non-stop jokes and candid atmosphere make it an entertaining and must see entertainment experience.

Watch D’Frickin show!
